Welcome to Telephreak!

Telephreak.org was built and designed as an information trading post for the computer enthusiast (the hacker), telephony technophiles (the phreak), radio junkies (the HAM), and anyone else with technologically-related interests. The services offered are 100% legal, and free to use by anyone anywhere. Telephreak operates with one goal in mind: To use free speech and software to encourage learning and open discussions.

There are several ways to use Telephreak services from around the world. Check out our DID page (Direct Inward Dials), our gateway page and the VoIP page (Voice over Internet Protocol) for more information. With so many free ways available to access the Telephreak PBX system, there's no reason to not check it out!

Telephreak's primary services include free voicemail and conferencing. The conferencing system (Option 2) allows people from across the globe to communicate on a variety of topics, and just generally socialize.

The Telephreak systems also does much more than voicemail and conferencing. But you'll have to dial in to find out all the capabilities of the system.

Besides voicemail and conferencing, there are many other services offered on Telephreak. The BBS system, based on traditional, non-web "old-school" stylings, can be accessed on "bbs.telephreak.org" via telnet or SSh. If SSH is being used, user name is "bbs" without a password. Conversations range from X.25 networks to VoIP to Unix, among many other things.

We also offer a public and semi-public shell servers. Public access systems like The OpenVMS Deathrow Cluster are freely available to use. Semi-public servers running Linux (Gentoo) require we know you before we give you access to our systems.

There's several way to contact us. Probably the most popular is the #telephreak IRC channel on irc.2600.net. Many people hang out in the #telephreak channel and chat about various topics. Of course, we also hang out on the Telephreak PBX (generally during the evening/USA time) in the "general conference" area (# 2 on the Telephreak PBX IVR). You can also leave us voice mail on the Telephreak PBX at extension 0.

Oct 21st, 2010 - The Telephreak online chat is back online. Click on the "online chat" to enter IRC. Or, point your favority IRC client to irc.2600.net #telephreak.
Septh 15th, 2010 - Yep, the Telephreak web site has been down for a bit. We've been in the process or restructuring things, including the web site (new server), shell server(s) (pinky.ratman.org & cheshire.telephreak.org merged) and the BBS (ssh bbs@bbs.telephreak.org). Sorry for the delay. We're sorta back online!
Jan. 11th, 2010 New Google Voice DID added. The number is (202) 642-5118. You can try to call use using the following widget. For the phone number, enter 202-642-5118. If you cause echo due to the lack of a headset, or a crappy headset you'll be kicked from the system.
July 11th, 2009 Da Beave, JFalcon, Notkevin and Nick Farr will be on KGNU tonight @ 9:30 PM Mountain/11:30 PM Eastern. Discussions will include Hackerspaces/Hackers on a plane, Defcon talks (JFalcon/Da Beave) and the social eng. contest @ Defcon sponsored by Telephreak! June 8th, 2009 - Been re-working the Telephreak PBX system. The scanners are back online [ # for advanced options, then option 9]. Please note: the new SIPBroke gateway number to access Telephreak is now *4673-00 ! SIPBroker/Voxalot providers world wide access to the Telephreak PBX system. In other news, the 702 DID (from nufone) is dead. Nufone appears to have finally kicked the bucket. SIPBroker PSTN access numbers can be found here!. While we lost a DID in Las Vegas, we've gained one in Germany! (+49 511 696 0419 23)
May 2nd, 2009 - New DID's online and updated. See our DID list for more information. We've also re-added the MRTG/System statistics page for voip.telephreak.org. That can be found at http://voip.telephreak.org/mrtg.
Feb. 21st, 2009 - NuFone (http://www.nufone.net) DID's are down. NuFone seems to be going under as there 800 number and all our DID's are completely broken. For more information see: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Nufone
Jan. 24th, 2009 - Noticed the IRC web based gateway was broken. This has been fixed. This is a web based IRC client that will connect you to irc://irc.2600.net to the #telephreak room. Click here to check it out.
